Assessment

Performance in courses is either by coursework, or by examination, or by a combination of coursework and examination as specified in the descriptions of individual courses. Coursework assessment is based on essays, term papers, projects, oral presentations, quizzes, and other kinds of oral or written work as prescribed by the course instructors. Assessment / examinations will normally be held at the end of the semester in which the courses are taken.

Standard of assessment and classification of awards

Our courses (unless otherwise specified) follow the general TPg grading expectations. You can view the general expectations of student performance in the Faculty of Arts here.

Upon successful completion of a curriculum, candidates who have shown exceptional merit may be awarded a mark of distinction in accordance with the curriculum regulations, where applicable. You can view the criteria for the award of ‘Distinction’ here.
