LING7502 Research Seminars in Linguistics II (Core)

Course Description

Students are required to attend linguistics seminars in two consecutive semesters. Each semester at least five seminars, of students’ own choice, are expected. The seminars can be organized by the Department or others at HKU or other universities in Hong Kong. They should deal with current topics of interest in linguistics based on original research.

Assessment:
For each semester, students should submit a brief report that contains the following two essential parts:

Part I –– Provide details of all the seminars, at least five, you attend in the semester, including date, venue, title and speaker’s name. However, abstracts need not be included.

Part II –– Comment on two seminars that you have attended. In particular, how is it, or can be, related to your own research topic/work? You can also include the question(s), if any, raised by you. Each commentary can run from 200 to 300 words.

Due date: Dec 31, 2012 (for the First semester) May 31, 2013 (for the Second semester)
